Rinke Nijland, MSc

MSD Biotech Oss
Sr. Process Engineer
Rinke finished his Chemical Engineering study in 2005 at the University of Twente. He started his career at Tebodin in the Hague.
In 2008 he switched position and had his first job in the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industry at the Dutch Vaccine Institute (nowadays Bilthoven Biologics). In those years he developed a curiosity about Critical Utilities regulation, design and C&Q.
After an interim switch to the chemical industry, he returned in 2013 at Boehringer Ingelheim in Weesp. During the years over there the curiosity about Critical Utilities (CU) changed in a passion for.
This passion he continued in 2015 at MSD Biotech Oss. Next to many ‘standard’ Process Equipment projects he was able to extent his knowledge concerning CU’s resulting in 2021 becoming a member of the Merck CoP CU leadership team. From April 2024 on, Rinke joined Bilthoven Biologics.

From 2015 on, he became an active member at the ISPE. Rinke became part of the ISPE Steering Committee CoP Critical Utilities in March 2022. As committee member, he participated in the developed of the first edition of the ISPE GPG Membrane-Based Water for Injection Systems. The years after, he became chapter lead within the revisions of the ISPE GPG Process Gases and ISPE GPG Ozone Sanitization of Pharmaceutical Water Systems.
Next to that Rinke was part of the ISO group ISO 22519:2023 Membrane based generation of water for injection (WFI) who were responsible of the second edition of this ISO.

In his private life Rinke likes to spend his time with his family, sports (running, trail running, road cycling, swimming, MTB-ing, multisports) and baking fresh pizzas in his pizza oven.
